Project Implementation Process
The SMART Partnership implementation process can begin at any time of the year and follows a structured but flexible sequence of activities. Project management, consultation and staff development are available to all participating partners to assist in the smooth implementation of this collaborative problem based learning approach. These activities are organized on a quarterly basis.
Quarter 1
- School staff team is introduced to the Smart Partnership
- Framework of program outlined
- Planning with educators and business/community partners
- Mapping out the implementation plan and timeframes
- Building link to the data base for school and business/community partners
Quarter 2
- Staff site visits to business/community partners take place
- Site visits from business to school take place
- Students do research about the business and their partners
- Problem and "driving questions" identified by partners
- Curriculum integration takes place
Quarter 3
- Student action plans begin (on-going connection with business/community partners)
- Feedback is given to student work from business/community partners
- Students prepare business like presentations
- Mentoring or shadowing takes place
- Technology tools are utilized to prepare work
Quarter 4
- Presentation to business/community partners, parents and school personnel (in a formal setting with structured questions of the students)
- Reflective time on the past three quarters by business/community partners and school team
- Dialogue next steps to continue, integrate and improve the partnership
- Summary and Evaluation
